Hey Jerry, there was a small problem with the transfer. The check is still fine and has cleared fully. In fact, I was in the process of transferring the money , when the bank teller asked me what I was sending the money for. I told her and she looked very worried. She had me to talk to the bank manager and he asked me alot of questions about you and he didn't like the answers I gave. Now, the bank has given me six forms that they want for you to fill out. They said that I could not fill out the forms for you and that only you are allowed to provide the answers. So, until you fill out the forms and send them back, I am unable to send any of the money. Not to worry, the bank said that this sort of thing happens all the time and that the transfer will be approved just as soon as I got the forms back. I will attach the forms and get them back to me ASAP.

Loan scam. I called and warned him. I'm sure this guy is a nice person, but in many ways he sounds like how most people THINK most victims sound - like a doofus. He has lost $150 so far. I advised him to freeze the scammers out.
